Hostnames

For the purposes of this form, the terms node, host, system, networked device and computer are used interchangeably.

Hostname is the name by which the new machine will be known on the network. Please carefully consider the selection of hostname. We discourage hostname changes; due to licensing and database issues, name changes are time consuming (read costly). Please choose a name like you are naming a pet or a child, something this computer can keep as it passes down the hand-me-down chain over time.
